Holding Out For A Hero

With summer seemingly in the far distance, I've been daydreaming of midi skirts and easy dresses without the opportunity to wear any of them. If the fall staple is a cozy knit, then summer's most foremost leading lady is the midi skirt. As soon as temps steadily hit the 70's, I will most certainly be baring some lower calf/ankle. When I was in high school a very mean girl told me I had thunder thighs, and I wrote off mini skirts and shorts (minus of course beachwear) for good. Thus, midi skirts have been my saving grace. Not that I'm allowing said high school bully to dictate my wardrobe, but there is just something so effortlessly feminine about the midi skirt. It can be worn with sneakers for a casual laid back look, wedges for a meeting, or mules for a comfortable walk to work. Standing at 5'2", I have learned two very important secrets of the trade when it comes to nailing the style:

1). Find a midi that hits just below the knee.

2). Make friends with a really great tailor.

These two secrets have helped me to formulate an entire spring wardrobe around the midi skirt. If you too are looking for that perfectly uncomplicated bottom piece, click through my favorites (for all heights) below, along with easy outfit combos.
