Seriously though, who needs food when you could give all your money to the almost-forty-BILLION dollar company and blackhole that is Sephora? I know this sounds sarcastic, but I promise, I would actually choose perfect skin over everything (I mean, not pizza, but like, salads for sure). If you read my lastest beauty post, then you know just how much I'm willing to do for perfect skin, including spending insane amounts of money at once. Below are five products that I would give my first born for- or at least a week's paycheck:
1). Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
We all like to start our day off right; healthy breakfast, maybe a quick morning spin sesh. So why not start your makeup routine off right either? Hourglass's Veil Mineral Primer is equal to starting your day off with a green juice. It completely balances the tone of your skin, getting rid of any redness or blotches, while giving your face the silky, baby-butt skin you want to start your day with. Unlike many other primers that feel oily or greasy, Hourglass has created the perfect texture that goes on thick but thins in seconds, leaving your skin so even, Picasso could create a masterpiece on it.
2). Dr. Jart BB Cream
What's better than taking your makeup off at the end of a long day? I'll tell you: not having any makeup on to take off! In the summertime, as hemlines go shorter and bulky knits turn into poplin and linen, I like to shed layers on my face as well. Especially on those really humid days, the Dr. Jart BB cream is a perfect mixture of full, non-oily coverage, and 45 SPF. It doesn't require concealer, foundation or bronzer. And best part? You can throw this on the morning and confidently go from work to happy hour all without clogging your pores.
3). Laura Mercier Finishing Powder
For those of you who sweat an abnormal amount (ehem, me) this powder is a godsend. I actually own 2- one in the standard size that I keep in my vanity, and one travel size that comes everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE, with me. Not only does it soak up sweat, oil, and anything shiny (like a blotting paper) but it gives the illusion of poreless even skin. I use it on days when I am rocking no makeup, which, tbh is most days, or to finish off a night-out look. It seals in the good stuff and keeps out the bad stuff.
4). The Clarisonic
Some may say this is the holy grail of skin care. I would agree. The brains behind the Clarisonic argue that this baby cleans six times better than hands, and I can attest to this. Before using this magical cleansing machine, I would have to double up on washing my face AND use an astringent, where makeup residue would still come off on the cotton pad. The Clarisonic has worked wonders to insure no residue is left on my skin, and therefore my white pillow cases. It comes with a simple charger, and one night's charge can last for around one month depending on how often you use it (I use it once per day right before bed, for reference). It also comes with an amazing smelling gel cleanser. Good skin seriously starts with how you wash your face, and it doesn't get cleaner than this.
5). Josie Maran Argan Oil
You know how sleeping on a silk pillowcase is supposedly good for your skin? This stuff is like wearing a mask of silk all the time, not matter the material of your headrest. For anyone with oily or combination skin, DO NOT FEAR, this oil is light as a feather and will not clog your pores, just make them disappear. In the winter time I'll mix it with a nightly moisturizer to fight the cold weather, and in the summer I'll use it by itself to keep my sunbathed skin from drying out. It comes with a hefty price tag, but one drop will do wonders!
